Words are made up of morphemes¡ªthe minimal unit of meaning. Polymorphemic words may divide into roots and affixes (including prefix, suffix and infix). WordHacker has collected 1284 allomorphs (alternate forms of a morpheme) and 2200 morphemes. A root is the base form of a word which cannot be further analyzed without total loss of identity. All words may be said to contain a root morpheme. The Roots page provides detailed information about the root morpheme and affixes that constitute a word thus it is easy to see how this word is structured. In the following picture,
the right grid lists words sharing a same morpheme in the left grid. And
the word in the right grid is shown on the blackboard. By pressing the
Run button the words listed in the right grid is pronounced
