Select Word List

 

The first step to start learning with WordHacker is to click on the Select Word List button or press the key F9. There are three types of dialog boxes, Select Word List From Database, Select Word List From File and Select Word List From Intersection.

Select Word List From Database:

.TaiSha, Rainbow, Barron and Red Book are word lists recommended for GRE test takers.

.GMAT is for GMAT test takers

.TOEFL is for TOEFL test takers

.SAT is for SAT test takers

.CET-4 (College English Test Band 4), CET-6 ( College English Test Band 6) are for general ESL students. They are not only for ESL test takers but also for normal ESL/EFL learners. 4000 Basic words + 2000 advanced words.

.AWL is for Academic Word List Learners

.NCE 1-4 are for beginners (NCE: New Concept English)

.Word Frequency Band 1-10 are for English learners who learn words by word frequency

 

 



Select Word List From Dapagease


Select Word List From File means if you have your own word list put it in WordList package in WordHacker deretory then open the list through this path in WordHacker.

You can use Select Word List From Intersection to select words from severial word lists at the same time.

.Word lists imported by your own are presented.

.Words can be filtered according to their Frequency Band or your Learn Level.

.Words can be arranged in the following orders: A-Z, Z-A, Random and Reverse.

Note:

More word lists you select, less words you get. Example :

AWL Include
SAT Include

means select words which are in the intersection of AWL list and SAT list.

AWL Include
SAT Exclude

means select words which are in AWL list but not in SAT list.

And when you select none of the lists, WordHacker will think that you want to select the whole word set.There are more than 20000 words in total.

Once a word list is selected, press OK to start learning.

Tips:

The fast way to open a word unit is to right-click on the left part or right part of the blackboard and select a word unit in the context menu. The word set is just what you select last time you run wordhacker. And you can define your own word units too.
